Captain Bobby Marshall is a lifelong waterman, who most feel was born with a fishing rod in his hand. Hands down, he is one of the best there is in these parts.

Class Act was built by the Captain himself, made exclusively for charter boat fishing, and she fishes the Chesapeake Bay out of Tilghman Island.

Different catches for different seasons

Seasonal fishing charters

A big rockfish held up on the Class Act deck at the dock

Spring fishing

The season opens in the spring, when the big rockfish that wintered in the ocean come back up the Bay. It is trophy fish time.

A red drum held up on the Class Act deck

Summer fishing

Rock, blues, drum, sea trout, Spanish mackerel, perch, spot, croakers, redfish and flounder are all fair game.

Fall fishing

From about mid October the bigger fish start to show up again, as larger rockfish make their way in from the ocean. We jig, cast or troll for big rockfish and bluefish until the Bay water chills and they head south.

I have fished with Bobby Marshall for almost 30 years and I have always been totally satisfied. Bobby is a first rate fisherman and boat captain. He makes every effort for his charter to be comfortable and primarily catch fish. There has never been a trip with Bobby when we didn't catch fish.

A group of four for a half day fishing charter. We had a great time under Captain Bobby's watchful eye and patient teaching. He helped the least skilled of us while he challenged the experienced. You can't go wrong with Cpt Bobby.

Common questions

How much is a charter?

A full day is $900 for up to 6 people, with bait, tackle and ice included. Half day trips are available as well; call (410) 924-4201 for the half day rate. A fuel surcharge may apply.

I have never been fishing. Is that a problem?

Not at all. All levels are welcome. If you are new, the Captain takes the time to show you and helps as much as you need. If you have fished for years, you handle as much as you are comfortable with.

Can we bring the kids?

Yes. Captain Bobby enjoys taking families out, and he makes sure the children share in the excitement of a good catch.

Where do we meet the boat?

Knapps Narrows Marina, 6176 Tilghman Island Road, on Tilghman Island: under two hours from Baltimore and Washington, and about two and a half from Philadelphia. If you are staying in St. Michaels, Oxford or Cambridge, he can come to your dock and pick your group up (an additional fee may apply).

I called and nobody answered.

That usually means the Captain is out fishing. There is no cell signal out past the Narrows. Leave a message or send a request and he will call you back from the dock.
